Build An Ark

I got hip to Build An Ark, via Gilles Peterson, and their album Dawn has been getting a lot of heavy play around these parts. It is very 70s conscious Afro-Latin jazz stylely.

Check out the title track below, and get with this album.

Head Shoulders Knees and Toes

Just laid my ears on K.I.G's Head Shoulders Knees and Toes (& the subsequent Wale version - DOWNLOAD THIS), and thought I better share. I knew this song as the popular (and oft-covered) Ghanaian call and response song Che Che Kule, and I am glad to see that it is back and still making the crowds move in this new UK grimey- dancehally-afro-housey current club hit.

And as a bonus, here are some Ghanaian school children doing their version. :)

So a bit of news is leaking about the forthcoming D'Angelo album. According to Billboard , D' will be collabo-ing with Cee-Lo, Raphael Saadiq, Q-Tip, and Roy Hargrove- There are also rumours of some Mark Ronson and Prince support on there.

In addition, D' is planning to do some touring this summer through Europe and the States. I hope he can still bring the ole magic...
