Broadcast is back!!!!!!!

Waking up the other morning to news of a new Broadcast album with another on the way was such a pleasant surprise as you already know how much i love this band. Im into this idea of flying under the radar and just surprising your fan base with news of an album. This one is a "mini - album" in collaboration with Focus Group. Sadly, Im going to miss their live show (check US dates here) once again as I will be out of town, yargggghh.

Joker's jamming my year

source

This track has been burning up my life since I first heard it on Joker's Sonar mix, and I
looked all over the nets for "fiiiiiiinalllleeeeee the weight is off my shoulders" to no avail. Finally, our trusty Fader crew has revealed the track to be the Joker remix of Simian Mobile Disco's new track "Cruel Intentions" featuring the fantabulous Beth Ditto (of The Gossip).

Here's the real track for download via FADER - Simian Mobile Disco - "Cruel Intentions" - feat Beth Ditto (Joker remix).

Here's the bootleg on Youtube

Download it, play it LOUD, enjoy the jamtasticness.

Black Milk "Losing Out" in Paris

Black Milk, putting on a good show here to an appreciative euro crowd in Paris. Nice rework of "losing out"- the drum reworking care of Daru, is reminiscent of the Roots "You Got Me" ending.

Escort - All Through The Night (with Muppets!)

Feeeelin this cute little video of the Rapture remix of All Through The Night by Brooklyn funk band Escort, featuring some of the grooviest bits that the Muppet Show had to offer. Does kids TV work it like this anymore? I sincerely doubt it.

Joy Orbison

Heard a couple of this cats tunes around recently, really feelin this one here...check him he is on one - Joy Orbison

K'Naan - America (feat Mos Def & another dude)

Gilles Peterson played this track by Somalia-born, Canada-based (but don't hold that against him) artist K'Naan a week or so ago, and I've been bumping it pretty regularly since then. It features Mos Def and one other dude who can't really rap, but nevermind. It bumps and is cool and breezy for summertimez!

Enjoy.

Janelle & Erykah - Too Much Talent!

Just wanted to post this picture of these two ladies who are some of the biggest talents on the scene right now. Janelle Monae has been grinding as Erykah Badu's opening act on tour. I'm jealous of those who get to peep these shows! Come to Europe, ladies!

RIP Baatin: thanks for everything

Baatin of Slum Village recently passed away. Another huge loss for music. Having been one of the three original members of Slum Village(T3, Baatin, and Jay "Dilla" Dee), the group definitely as a whole but also he alone, influenced so many with his simply amazing unique vocal stylings.

As usual, I am indebted to GP for this one. I just grabbed Portland, Oregon native(?!) Ragen Fykes's EP from Fresh Selects and am liking it a lot. Track 3, Love Life is the real ear-perker here but they are all gems. Get with this summery and soulful niceness.
